August 2006 Board of Directors Meeting

Lion Line

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors Meeting at the Community Room of the Nevada Public Library on 7 August 2006 with Jean Bodensteiner as hostess. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Willie Morfitt who acted as Chairman. The following members were in attendance:

Motion to approve the minutes as read by Jerry Radke, seconded by Duane Stansbury. Motion approved.

The Treasurer reported a Checking Account Balance of $5,405.81. Motion to approve Treasurer's Report by Janice Schmidt, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved. Bills presented: Lions International, 666.47, Gates Hall, 180.00, Lions of Iowa, 58.13, Hobby Lobby(Family Night) 66.01, Great Plains Leadership Institute, (Janice), 34.77, Sharon Brewer Band (Family Night), 105.00. Motion to pay bills presented by Jim Fenn, seconded by Charlene Jarboe. Motion approved.

Bill for Bologna presented by Jean Bodensteiner for International Youth Camp, 56.19. Motion to pay bill by Steve Jordening, seconded by Paul Malsom. Motion approved.

Norma Gandrup returned the $56.00 check for Harry's dues and sent another check for $100.00. Motion by Dick Smith, seconded by Steve Jordening to put the amount from both checks in the heliport fund for the new hospital. Motion approved.

The President also received a check for $25.00 from Genevieve Cook.

Motion to approve Bill Horine s request to include his vehicle in the Lincoln Highway Day Parade by Jerry Radke, seconded by Bob Hobson. Motion approved.

Janice Schmidt reported on the Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute that she attended at Madison, South Dakota.

Janice Schmidt brought up the possibility of the Lions Club maintaining a flower garden at the Dyer-Dowell House. She also said that she had suggested to some merchants the possibility of them donating $5 gift certificates that the Lions Club would give as door prizes at events such as Pancake Day. No action was taken on either item.

The next Board Meeting will be September 5.
