The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors Meeting August 4, 2008 at the home of John Beals. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Jerry Radke who acted as Chairman with the following members present:

Motion to approve the minutes of July 2008 made by John Beals, seconded by Willie Morfitt. Motion approved.
The Treasurer's Report was given by Loren Heckathorne. Motion to approve the report was made by Jean Bodensteiner, seconded by Charlene Jarboe. Motion approved.
Finance Committee Report was given by LaNair Niblock. The $25,000 Money Market Fund was reinvested in a Freddie Mac Bond for 4 years at 5.35%.
LaNair Niblock reported that the Audit Committee had audited the Treasurer's Books and found them to be in order.
Jerry Radke reported income of $382.50 from ISU Dining Services and 20% of that would be given to the ISU Lions Club as their portion for helping at the 4-H Convention Dinner.
Bills presented: Jean Bodensteiner, $15, Recycling Instr. copies; Copy Works, 132.15, RAGBRAI signs; Jerry Radke, 32.05, Recycle Banner for float; Central IA. Printing, 70.74, 60th Anniv.; Burkes, 558.90, Sausage for RAGBRAI. Motion to approve bills presented made by Bob Hunter, seconded by Jean Bodensteiner. Motion approved.
Motion to table action on bill to Herman Kopitzke for $44.30 for KidSight activities made by Willie Morfitt, seconded by Charlene Jarboe. Motion approved.
The Club has a credit of $88.96 at Sam's Club. It will be used by Paul Malsom to buy candy for the Lincoln Highway Days Parade.
Motion to have the paper recycling company to pick up the trailer made by Bob Hunter, seconded by Willie Morfitt. Motion approved.
Charlene Jarboe reported that we fed about 50 people at the International Youth Exchange Camp.
The RAGBRAI breakfast went well due to the excellent direction and work of Charlene Jarboe. Motion to donate $600 to the Firemen for the use of the Fire Station and their help was made by Bob Hunter, seconded by Willie Morfitt. Motion approved.
The Lion costume was worn by Janice Schmidt in the Zearing Days Parade.
Willie Morfitt reported that sign up for the football games is going well.
A request for help in purchasing eye glasses was referred to LaNair Niblock for action. It was the consensus to table a request for hearing aids until Rhoda Bender had been contacted.
Dick Couser reported that the Membership Committee is designing a brochure for placement in the Chamber of Commerce Office.

The Nevada Lions Club Board of Directors held a Special Meeting August 27, 2008 at Gates Hall after the Regular Club Meeting. The meeting was called to order at 8:24 pm by President Jerry Radke who acted as Chairman.
LaNair Niblock informed the Board of a request for hearing aids and that a test and molds would cost $80 per each ear.
A motion to authorize the Hearing Committee to authorize $50 per mold was made by Charlene Jarboe and seconded by Dick Couser. Motion voted down.
A motion to authorize the committee to allow the committee to authorize $100 to assist with the purchase of hearing aids made by John Beals, seconded by Jean Bodensteiner. Motion approved.
Motion to adjourn by Bob Hunter, seconded by Charlene Jarboe.
