The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors Meeting August 8, 2011 in the South Room of Gates Hall. The meeting was called to order at 7:38 pm by President John Beals who acted as Chairman with the following members present:

A motion to approve the minutes of July 11, 2011 was made by Charlene Jarboe, seconded by Bob Hunter. Motion approved.
The Treasurer's Report was given by Loren Heckathorne. Motion to approve the report was made by Jerry Radke, seconded by Charlene Jarboe. Motion approved.
Following the Treasurer's Report a discussion of meal prices was held. A motion to raise the price paid by members to $9, beginning in September, was made by Paul Malsom, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
Due to the low interest rate received on the Money Market Account with Edward Jones, it was suggested that the Finance Committee talk to the Story County Community Foundation.
A motion to approve the $5 entry fee for the Lincoln Highway Days Parade was made by Jerry Radke, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
John Beals reported that the company taking tickets at the ISU football games wanted 10 people for each of the first two games and five for each of the following games. Each individual would have to take one two hour training session and one four hour session. The consensus was that the Club not take tickets this year.
A request for volunteers to help with Kids at First, a program to care for students the second and fourth Mondays of each month for the first two hours of school because of In-service training for teachers. No action taken.
Dick Smith reported that the Club has $1,260 credit towards a Warren Coleman award from eye tissue transport and $800 towards a second award from donations to Iowa Lions Foundation. The two accounts cannot be combined.
