The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting in the Community Room of the Nevada Public Library on 6 January 2003. The meeting was called to order at 7:07 pm by President Jim Perkins who acted as chairman with the following members in attendance:

Lion Susan Radke read the minutes from the 2 December 2002 board meeting. Lion Steve moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Lion Jean, and carried.
The treasurer's check book balance was $5644.40. The following bills were presented: 1) Fareway Stores for Sight Night supplies = $15.96, 2) Printing Services, Inc. - paper for Sight Night = $14.94, 3) Nevada Chamber of Commerce for annual membership dues = $110.00, 4) Jerry Radke - food for the Coming to Your Senses screening = $18.13, and 5) Gates Memorial Hall for rent ($64 for Sight Night and $96 for meetings) = $160.00. Lion Charles moved to pay the bills, seconded by Lion Steve, and carried.
Lion President Jim passed around items received in the mail: Doris Andresen a $25 check and thank you for Spouse Night, a thank you from Marilyn Argotsinger for her annual gift, a card from Iowa Printing, and a thank you from the Kiwanis Club for our participation in the community clean-up.
Budgets for large projects were discussed. Lion Charles moved than any large project costing over $200 have a work sheet projecting income and expenses. Seconded by Lion Susan. After discussion, Lion Charles amended his motion to remove the $200 amount leaving "any large project will have a work sheet projecting income and expenses." Lion Susan also seconded the amendment. The amendment was approved 8 to 3 and the amended motion also was approved 8 to 3.
Funding for Nevada Lions attending conferences and conventions was discussed. Lion Steve moved that the club pay for registration and daytime meals for all members attending District, Mid-Winter, and State Conventions. The motion was seconded by Lion Dick. Evening banquet meals would not be covered. The motion passed 9 to 2.
In other old business, Lion Susan moved that the $200 given for Christmas food baskets come out of the Project Fund. Seconded by Lion Jean and passed.
Michael Leach contacted the club and sent a letter to Lion President Jim Perkins indicating that he had broken his glasses and had no funds to purchase new glasses. This is to be handled by the Sight Committee. Lion President Jim appointed Lions Susan and Paul to work with Lion Jean on this committee.
A date for Pancake Day was discussed. Lion Susan moved that we have Pancake Day on Sunday, 23 March 2003. Seconded by Lion Jean and passed. Lion Susan reported that she knows of a couple who would like to join our Lions Club but can't afford the meals. Affiliate membership and a branch club were mentioned as possibilities. Discussion will continue at a future meeting.
Lion Paul volunteered to host the 3 February 2003 board meeting at his home. Thanks to Lion Loren for hosting this meeting. Lion Jean moved to adjourn, seconded by Lion Paul, and we adjourned at 8:38 pm.
