Lion Line

Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, July 13 -- Loren Heckathorne

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, July 13, 2016, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Jim Fenn called the meeting to order at 8:11 pm and acted as Chairman, with the following members present:

Jim Fenn Loren Heckathorne Bob Hunter
Charlene Jarboe Steve Jodening Willy Morfitt
LaNair Niblock Jerry Radke Mike Seabock

Secretary Loren Heckathorne read Minutes from the June 8 Board Meeting. Hearing no corrections or additions, President Fenn approved the minutes as read.

President Fenn presented a monthly Financial Report and a yearly report, from Treasurer John Beals, since John was unable to attend. Motion was made by Steve Jordening, Second by Bob Hunter to approve the financial reports. Motion passed.

There was one bill presented: $28.22 for paper sacks to Bob Hunter. Motion was made by Steve Jordening and Second by Jerry Radke to pay the bill. Motion passed.

Willy Morfitt read a letter for the Guide to Nevada to ask if we planned to do this again this year. Steve Jordening motioned, and Charlene Jarboe Seconded, to advertise in the Guide to Nevada this year and to authorize Willy to make the necessary changes in the advertising text. Motion passed. Willy also reported that he took 103 pairs of glasses to Ames and that there are no current requests for eyeglasses, but there may be one for hearing aids.

Motion was made by Steve Jordening, Second by Bob Hunter, to have Susan take care of the picnic expenses. She is authorized to spend whatever she needs and bill the club later. Motion passed.

President Fenn read a letter from Memorial Lutheran Church's Ministry Endowment Fund grants. If was suggested that we apply for a grant as part of our Gift Basket giving. This may or may not qualify. President Fenn will look into this.

Under new business, President Fenn suggested Sept 18 as the date for Pancake Day. Windsor Manor is raising the price of our meals from $4 to $5.50. We currently bill $6 per meal. Steve Jordening made a motion, Second by Willy, to raise the billing amount to $6.50 per meal. Motion passed.

We discussed the LHD parade, which will be held Aug 27. The entry fee is $10, if paid in advance. We are on the lookout for better quality candy that we tossed during the 4th of July parade.

Next topic was club liability insurance. We are insured by Lions International, but only for projects. One question was - are we incorporated? Steve Jordening will check into the liability issue.

President Jim Fenn wrote a prototype letter to a prospective member. One issue that was raised by this letter is that we are charging for meals whether or not they are eaten. This policy may prevent prospective members from joining the Lions.

Jerry Radke made a motion to adjourn and we adjourned at 9:12.
