Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, March 9 -- Loren Heckathorne
The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, Mar 9, 2016, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Charlene Jarboe called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm and acted as Chairman, with the following members present:
John Beals Loren Heckathorne Bob Hunter Charlene Jarboe Steve Jordening Willy Morfitt Jerry Radke Susan Radke
Secretary Loren Heckathorne read Minutes from the February 24 Board Meeting. Motion was made by Susan Radke, Second by Steve Jordening to approve the Minutes. Motion passed.
Treasurer John Beals presented a Financial Report and commented that all income and expenses were administrative. Motion was made by Jerry Radke, Second by Loren Heckathorne to approve the financial report. Motion passed. There were no bills of account this month.
The ISU dining fundraiser was discussed next. Susan talked to coordinator Diane Schmidt and our application for an evening fundraiser during Odyssey of the Mind was accepted. This will be from May 25 thru 28. Susan will send out a work schedule via e-mail.
Leader Dog wants us to give our contribution at the beginning of the Lions year, but we decided not to change what we are doing. We will give our contribution in January as we always have.
Next issue was scholarships. Charlene sent the school information that we are giving two $1000 scholarships again this year. Charlene and Charlie will select the scholarship winners near the end of April.
Lions Youth Exchange was the next topic, which was tabled last month. Camp Wesley Woods, near Indianola, is too far away for us to provide our usual Sweet Corn and Bologna Feed. Steve Jordening made a motion to give the Lions Youth Exchange Camp $50, instead of doing the feed, Second by Susan. Motion passed.
There was much discussion about our upcoming Pancake Day on April 10. Charlene will take inventory of our supplies. We plan on getting 50 pounds of Sausage from Burke Corporation, so that we can give generous portions without fear of running out. We have a $65 advertising budget for the Nevada Journal, which Willy handles. Nib usually passes out flyers -- hopefully, he will be able to do so again this year. We bought bottle gas, for the grills, last year; therefore, we should not need gas this year. It was noted that some supplies are at Steve's place but the tanks are at Jerry's place. Susan also volunteered to take inventory.
It was again noted that Bob and Jerry will do Nominations this year.
There was a motion to adjourn by Susan Radke and we adjourned at 8:30 pm. It was also noted that we don't need a motion to adjourn. If our business is completed, then President Charlene can adjourn the meeting.
Loren Heckathorne, Secretary
