Windsor Manor, Wednesday Evening, November 9 -- Loren Heckathorne
We did business at the regular meeting before the Board meeting. President Jim Fenn presented the membership drive. We are to bring back names for the membership drive. Also, we had a Kids Sight report by John Beals. He reported that for the Elementary School, 36 passed, 2 were border line, 3 were referred and 6 needed to be retaken. At Lil' Cubs 11 passed, there were no referrals and 2 needed retakes, while at Head Start, 10 passed and 1 was referred. It was also noted that President Fenn will be gone February and March.
The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors meeting, Nov 9, 2016, in the Windsor Manor dining room. President Jim Fenn called the meeting to order at 7:56 pm and acted as Chairman, with the following members present:
John Beals Jim Fenn Loren Heckathorne Bob Hunter Steve Jordening Charlie Lloyd Willy Morfitt Jerry Radke Susan Radke Mike Seaboch Carlene Hunter
Secretary Heckathorne read the minutes from the Sept 14 Board meeting. Mike Seaboch made a motion to approve the Minutes as read, Second by Steve Jordening. Motion passed.
John Beals presented the Treasurer's Report. Bob Hunter made a motion to approve the financial report. Motion passed.
The only Bills of Account were those that were pre-approved. The Bills were materials for signs, candy for Lincoln Highway Days and eyeglasses. There is no bill for Halloween candy, as yet.
President Fenn brought up Pajamas and Pancakes as old business. The wording for the flyer is completed and they are ready to be printed. These will be sent out to school children and the city will send them out in the bill. They will print 75 more for us. We pay a portion of the printing cost. But note that there is no payment needed for using Gates Hall. Two separate good-will offerings are not needed.
We will put a blurb on our website. Get ingredients for up to 300. Set-up is Fri 5:00 pm. Start at 6:00 am Saturday.
It was reported that we don't need a dessert for our Food at First meal in January.
Secretary Heckathorne read Sandy Richardson's application for Lions membership. Steve made the motion to approve Sandy Richardson as a new member; 2nd was made by Charlie. Motion approved. Note that she was not inducted, tonight, due to the fact that no one had induction ceremony material at this meeting.
Susan is working on the table top display. Kidsight should be included in the display items. Also, we want something clearly asking them to join Lions. We may want some pictures in the display. Also, we should mention our website and Facebook. It was also mentioned that our tri-fold needs updating. Susan has a carrying case for the display.
Secretary Loren was asked to order two table coverings for use at events: The Centennial Table Cover and the Plastic Disposable Table Cover. I think both of these items are sets of 6.
Susan and Bob are planning to go thru a box of party supplies.
Steve brought up the budget for our Christmas party. He first asked about the cost per meal. It is difficult to find a good meal unless we spend up to $20. He was asked to check into the Country Club, as we used it last year and seemed reasonably priced. Steve made a motion to establish a $250 budget for entertainment and decorations, Second by Susan. Motion passed.
We need to fix up our street sign -- put clear coat on it. We may need to do more, later, as needed. Our spring Pancakes event is Apr 9. As a note, Easter is Apr 16.
We discussed donations done last year. We need to do Gift baskets (cards) now. Susan motion $1000 for Gift cards, Second by Bob. Motion passed. This is 20 gift cards of $50 each and is written to Fareway.
Pay our Lions donations when we have the funds and they should be the same amounts as last year. Steve made this a motion, and Mike Seconded. Motion passed. These donations are: $50 LCIF, $100 Leader dog, $100 Diabetes aware, $100 puppy program, $350 ILF. Also give Marilyn a gift of $50.
Steve made a motion to fund and process our membership drive as needed. Bob seconded that motion. Motion passed. We could use 3 lists for our membership drive: Kiwanis, Rotary and Jaycees. Exclude the first two and include the last one while doing membership drive.
Jim Fenn has printed tickets for giving to business that donate items for Pancake Day (write the name of the business on the back of the ticket). They are also available if a member wants to give tickets to someone (write the members name on the back of the ticket so the treasurer can ask the member for payment).
Charlie moved we adjourn. About 9:22 pm, I think
