President's Message by Lion
Angelo Stefani
Greetings fellow Lions of Nevada:
Thank you for all you do to help achieve the goals of our club
and carry out the many projects that benefit the Nevada community and
others. As you know, increasing membership is a major goal of our club
this year. I encourage you to continue your efforts to contact as many
potential new members as possible. We only need four more new recruits to
meet this year’s objective of adding five new members. WE CAN DO
IT!!! Congratulations to Loren Heckathorne for recruiting our newest
member Brad Gerndt.
I received a letter from Dr. Jean Behar, Chairperson of the Lions
Clubs International Foundation Board of Trustees expressing gratitude for
our generous donation of $1000 to the LCIF World Trade Center/Pentagon
Disaster Victims Fund. Our club should feel very proud knowing the
donation will have a positive impact on many lives.
If you have ideas on how to improve the newsletter or have information you
want included, please contact Jan Whaley or myself.

Sight Night Activity a Success by Lion Jean
Bodensteiner
Approximately 65 trick-or-treaters and their families attended
the first annual Nevada Lions Club's Sight Night in Gates Hall. Those
attending enjoyed the "sight" displays/activities and the
free hot dogs, chips and beverages. The first 25 families received
"Proud to be American" posters donated by Jim Dandy Office
Solutions of Nevada. Several pairs of eyeglasses were collected for
recycling to needy families in third world countries.
"Lion" and flag door prizes were won by the following
people: Rebekah Niblock, Krystyna Abbott, Ryan Hirst, Christine &
Claire Ausman, Brett & Stephanie Gerndt, Alyssa Schaeffer, Katie
Scarlett, Nick Ellis and Brooke Walter of Nevada; Tina McLain of Ankeny;
Aaron Sampson of Story City; Joey Louis of Ames; and Chloe Davis of State
Center.
If you were unable to bring your used glasses on Sight Night, just call
515-382-4547 and leave a message. Arrangements will be made to pick up
your used glasses.
Thank you for your attendance and your contributions and we hope to see
all of you and many more trick-or-treaters and families NEXT YEAR.
Thank you to all of the Nevada Lions members that helped make this event a
success especially newest member Brad Gerndt that was the Lion in
costume.
