The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board of Directors Meeting October 5, 2009 at the home of Dick Couser. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Janice Schmidt who acted at Chairperson with the following members present:

A motion to approve the minutes of September 8, 2009 as read was made by Bob Hunter, seconded by Steve Jordening. Motion approved.
The Treasurer's Report was made by Loren Heckathorne. The Project Fund including the Money Market Account is $8,871.46 and the Administration Fund is $3,196.85. A motion to approve the Treasurer's Report was made by Steve Jordening and seconded by Jerry Radke. Motion approved.
Bills presented: Gates Hall, $150.; Chamber of Commerce, 25., meal at Annual Meeting attended by Charlene Jarboe: Jerry Radke, 4.08, postage to mail KidSight Screening photographs. Motion to approve payment of bills presented made by Steve Jordening, seconded by Jim Fenn. Motion approved.
Maxine Howell forwarded a check for $50. from Richard and Beverly Anderson in memory of Dean Howell. The Secretary will send thank you notes.
Puppy Day at North Central Iowa Correction Facility was attended by Jerry Radke, Susan Radke, and Dick Smith. The Warden reported that 90% of the puppies sent from the facility become successful leader dogs. He also believes that the program contributes to the reduced number of prisoners from that facility that return to prison.
Jerry Radke reported that the Facility also has a refractometer to classify used eye glasses by the prisoners.
Jerry Radke reported that KidSight screenings were held October 1 and 2 at the Lil Cubs Pre-School with Willie Morfitt, Dick Couser, Loren Heckathorne, Dick Smith, and himself participating. Thirty students were photographed.
The next screening is tentatively scheduled at Central Elementary October 19. The Club has also been requested to screen at Huxley Headstart.
Downtown Trick or Treat will be October 29 between 5 and 7 o'clock pm.
A motion to participate in Trunk or Treat Night October 25 by underwriting the meal but not participating in the parking lot activities was made by Steve Jordening, seconded by Charlie Lloyd. Motion approved.
A motion to approve up to $250. for entertainment and decorations for the Christmas party was made by Jerry Radke, seconded by Paul Malsom. Motion approved.
Dick Couser will have a Lions display at Leadership Nevada October 8.
District Convention will be November 13 and 14. Someone needs to take the Club Banner.
The December 7 meeting will be hosted by Janice Schmidt.
