The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting in the Bob Hobson home on 7 February 2000. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Loren Heckathorne who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

The minutes of the 3 January 2000 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance was $4,218.85 with $2,837.84 in the Administrative Fund and $1,381.01 in the Project Fund. The treasurer's report was approved.
The secretary presented the following bill: The City of Nevada for Gates Hall Rent (4 meetings at $24) = $96. Lion Susan moved to pay the bill, seconded by Lion Jan. Motion approved.
Theresa Ramirez and her son Scott were at the meeting to explain Scott's need for glasses with flexible frames. The frames cost $180 and the family does not have enough money to purchase them. After Theresa and Scott left, Lion Duane moved to pay $75 towards the cost of the frames. Seconded by Lion Hobson and the motion carried.
Lion Everett reported on the Mid Winter Conference that was attended by Lions Jan, Dean, and Everett. There were 280 Lions in attendance. The conference was very informative and fun.
Lion Jim Fenn reported that the Membership Committee sent out letters to 103 businesses and 73 prospective members nominated by 18 Lions. Guest night will be 23 February 2000 at Gates Hall. The Membership Committee wants five minutes to welcome and enlighten the guests. Lion Dayton Countryman has the program that evening. Lion Jerry asked about a caterer for guest night. Lion Charlie moved that Lion Jerry use his own discretion on the meals for the next two months. Seconded by Lion Duane and approved.
Lion Joel reported on plans for Pancake Day on 17 March. Lion Duane will take care of the groceries and Lion Everett will pick up the sausage from the hog donated by Tom Rittgers. Lion Joel moved that we raise to price of tickets from $4 to $5 for adults and from $2 to $3 for children 12 and under. The motion was seconded by Lion Dick Smith. After discussion, Lion Charlie moved to amend the motion to charge $4.50 for adults and $2.50 for children, seconded by Lion Lynn. The amendment and amended motion passed. Free tickets will be given to the Community Bank if they sponsor our ad. Proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity and community projects. Lion Susan will write a letter to the editor of the Nevada Journal.
Lion President Loren passed around several informational items. It was noted that the Tail Twisters need to keep their tail twisting to a reasonable length of time. It is time for the Nominating Committee to meet. Lion President Loren will write a nominating letter to support Lion Jan Whaley for District Governor. Lion Bob Hobson handed out brochures recruiting workers for Census 2000. Lion Susan mentioned that Lion Roger Day will be conducting a leader training session, probably in late April.
Lion Jan Whaley will host our next board meeting at her home on 6 March. Lion Charlie moved that we adjourn. Lion Susan seconded and the meeting adjourned at 8:34 pm.
