The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting at the Jim Fenn home on February 1, 1999. The meeting was called to order at 7:31 p.m. by President Susan Radke who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance of $4,413.97 was read and approved.
The secretary presented the following bills:
Lions Clubs International - 1/2 year dues $ 342.00 District 9x7 Lions - 1/2 year dues 280.50 City of Nevada IA - Gates rent 9-23 to 12-9 96.00 Loren Heckathorne - Mid winter Conf. dues 40.00
Lion Jordening moved to pay the bills as presented, seconded by Williams, motion carried.
There was a discussion on Nevada Lions meeting night change. President to conduct a survey to start.
Pancake Day chair Joel Halverson reported on March 19th going o.k. We might have some dinner music. Lion Fenn moved to have Pancake Day profits go to Nevada Fireman's Thermal Imaging Camera, seconded by Williams, motion carried.
President Susan Radke reported on the following:
- Read an application from Charles Lloyd for membership in Nevada Lions. He is a pilot for Northwest Airlines. Lion Jerry Radke moved to accept Charles Lloyd, seconded by Harris. Motion carried.
- Nevada Lions members need to attend the District Convention in Madrid on April 10, 1999. Zone chair Janice Whaley will be nominated for District 9x7 Vice District Governor.
- District 9x7 is having a contest for new members from Feb. 1 to March 15. Nevada needs to reinvite new prospective members. The winner gets a $50.00 certificate from Lions supplies catalog. Membership chair Williams suggested we might check City and County personnel. They are civic minded. Also check Chamber of Commerce for new people.
Lion Carman reported Lions sign on main street needs to be redone. Carman, Fenn and Radke to check on this.
Lion Heckathorne and Carman reported on the Mid Winter Conference. Lions Foundation showed how a camera from Iowa City could be purchased for $5000.00. It will take pictures of small children's eyes. It could be used by local clubs.
The March 1 Board meeting will be held in the Jan Whaley home. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
March 19 - Nevada Lions Pancake Day.
April 9 and 10 - District 9x7 Convention in Madrid IA.
May 21 to 23, 1999 - Iowa Lions State Convention in Davenport, Iowa.
June 28 to July 2, 1999 - Lions International Convention in San Diego, Cal.
