January 1999 Board of Directors Meeting

Lion Line

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting at the Bill Horine home on January 4, 1999. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Susan Radke who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

Jerry Radke Duane Stansbury Donald Williams

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance of $3,203.05 was read and approved. The Secretary presented the Financial Statement from July 1, 1998 to December 31, 1998.

The secretary presented the following bills:
Ashley Cooprider/Drake Univ. - 1/2 Maliet Scholar. $  400.00
Jacque Sondgeroth/Iowa State U. - 1/2 McDaniel Scholar. 300.00

Lion Horine moved to pay the bills as presented, seconded by Christian, motion carried.

January 13 Nevada will have another membership night. Spouses of Lions and Lionesses will have their entrance fee of $25.00 waived in 1999. January 8, 9, and 10 Mid-Winter Conference with Heckathorne and Carman attending in Des Moines.

Lions Horine and Carman reported on Fish Sale. They checked on prices from several sources and found prices no better to Lions Clubs than prices in Nevada Stores. With lack of people on main street and no profit, Lion Jerry Radke moved to forget Fish Sale and find another project, seconded by Harris. Motion carried.

President Susan Radke reported on the following:

  1. Read a thank you from Marilyn Argotsinger for her gift.
  2. Reported the Leadership Institute that Heckathorne attended will be held in Calif. May 18 to 23, 1999.
  3. Lion Jan Whaley will have a student from Peru in their home from Jan. 8 through Feb. 21. Jim Axline of Nevada will have a student from Brazil, David Colpo, from Jan. 17 through Feb 21.

Lion Howell moved to give $25.00 to James Johnson Memorial, seconded by Williams, motion carried.

Lion Carman reported Lions sign on main street needs to be rebuilt, more next meeting.

March 19 - Nevada Lions Pancake Day.

April 9 and 10 - District 9x7 Convention.

May 21 to 23, 1999 - Iowa Lions State Convention in Davenport, Iowa.

June 28 to July 2, 1999 - Lions International Convention in San Diego, Cal.

A note to the Nominating Committee: We have to vote in April.

The Feb. 1 Board Meeting will be in the Jim Fenn home.
