The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting at the Jerry and Susan Radke home on July 6, 1998. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Susan Radke who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:
Everett Carman Odin Christian Joseph Guckert Joel Halverson Lynn Harris Loren Heckathorne Bob Hobson Dean Howell Steven Jordening Jerry Radke Duane Stansbury
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer's balance of $3,204.31 was reported and approved.
Secretary Bob Hobson presented the 1997 Financial Statement prepared by Chris Schell. Treasurer D. Howell moved to accept the statement, seconded by E. Carman, carried.
President Susan Radke presented the following:
- Soccer Tournament Food Booth bills totaling $709.29. The food booth grossed $627.84, losing $81.45. We only served 100, and had prepared for 400 people.
- Read a letter of resignation from Jerry Seydell, because of a job change. Lion Guckert moved to accept the resignation with regret, seconded by Jerry Radke, carried.
- Reminded Board of July 15th Lions Family Night at Gates Hall. The Vice Presidents are in charge.
- Reminded Board of regular meeting July 22nd.
Secretary Hobson presented the following bills:
City of Nevada, Gates Hall locker $ 50.00 Gates Hall rent, 5 meetings @ $24.00 120.00 Gates Hall rent, 50th Anniversary 97.50 Fareway, Soccer Tournament Food Booth 2.98 Susan Radke, Tournament Food Booth 188.80
Lion Carman moved to pay the bills as presented, seconded by S. Jordening, motion carried.
Chicken BBQ Chairman Loren Heckathorne reported on the upcoming August 29th Chicken BBQ. 425 chickens are ordered. Price will be same as last year: $3.50 for children, $5.00 for 1/2 chicken dinner.
After Board discussion, Treasurer Howell moved that members need not pay for prospective members meals who are guests. Seconded by J. Guckert, the motion was carried.
Lion Jordening moved for President Radke to purchase an Outstanding Service Award or plaque for Lion Don Williams. Seconded by O. Christian, and carried.
Lion Jerry Radke reported he has been working on a Nevada Lions Web site. Lion Carman moved to hook up, if there is no cost. Seconded by L. Harris, and carried.
Lion President Susan Radke asked the Board to think about possible Lions projects for the coming year.
The August Board Meeting will be held at Lion Everett Carman's home.
