June 1999 Board of Directors Meeting

Lion Line

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting in the State Bank & Trust meeting room on June 7, 1999. The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by President Susan Radke who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance of $2,967.45 was read and approved.

The secretary presented the following bills:
Janice Whaley - State Convention motel & registration $169.40
Dean Howell - State Convention registration $123.00
Lions Club International - New Members   $60.70

Lion Jerry Radke moved to pay the bills as presented, seconded by Halverson, motion carried.

President Susan Radke reported on the following:

  1. Nevada Lions $170.00 for Parks and Recreation summer program is used for part of 7th grade boys baseball team.
  2. Youth and Shelter Services of Ames is working with a Nevada family who needs hearing aids. Lion Howell moved to pay 75% or no more than $125 for testing and fitting, seconded by Williams, motion carried.
  3. Nevada Lions caterer is serving more meals than we order so Lion Howell moved to guarantee 30 meals and prepare for 35, seconded by Christian, motion carried.

Janice Whaley and Dean Howell thanked the Nevada Lions for sending them to the State Convention in Davenport.

June 23 Lions meeting will be Installation of Officers only, no other program.

July 3 J.C. Parade in Nevada. Lion Jerry Radke moved to spend $75.00 for candy to throw from a float, seconded by Howell, motion carried.

International Youth Exchange Camp will be held in Madrid 4-H Camp in July. Nevada Lions have agreed to have 25 dozen cookies on July 16 from Lions members - deliver to Bob Hobson at 760 11th Street. July 22 the Nevada Lions will serve 50 people supper at the Elm Lodge at the camp.

Lion James Perkins will chair the Peace Poster Contest this year.

Lion Jerry Radke brought to our attention page 46 of the June issue of the Lion magazine an article on club software - Lions new way.

Because of the July 4th weekend, the July board meeting will be held in the Dean Howell home on July 12. July 14 will be Nevada Lions Family Night.

The board thanked President Susan Radke for a great job as President. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
