The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting in Jan Whaley home on 6 March 2000. The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by President Loren Heckathorne who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

The minutes of the 7 February 2000 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance was $3,822.80 with $2,516.79 in the Administrative Fund and $1,306.01 in the Project Fund. The treasurer's report was approved.
The secretary presented the following bill: District 9x7 Lions (District and State Dues at $7.35 per member or $279.30 plus $7.50 District Convention Fee) = $286.80. Lion Dick moved to pay the bill, seconded by Lion Bob. Motion approved.
The Nevada Lions Club has arranged for a room at the State Bank & Trust for the Zone Meeting on 20 March 2000. The Maxwell Club will be providing treats.
Our membership drive was discussed. At least one guest from our Guest Night on 23 February will be filling out an application for membership. A few others are considering it. Lion Jerry asked if there was any feedback from the guests on our meeting time. Some people indicated that they think we need more work projects. Adopting a mile of highway was suggested. It was agreed that we should use the Habitat for Humanity house in Nevada as a work project. We will plan to help after we get more information.
Lion President Loren read an e-mail from Lion Joel, chair of Pancake Day, concerning our 17 March pancake feed. Lion Everett has reserved the coolers and will check on the newspaper ad which is scheduled to run just once. Community Bank will pay the ad bill. Lion Everett will pick up the sausage from the State Center Locker after paying the $197.50 bill for processing the 215 pounds of sausage. Lion Susan has contacted the hospital about pancakes for the residents. They want ten pounds of the sausage Friday morning and the pancakes to arrive at 4:15 pm. Lion Jerry will call Tom Rittgers and invite him and Phyllis for a free pancake dinner. Lion Loren will contact Ken Nelson regarding the number of Kiwanians that will be eating Friday morning. Lion Jerry will get $250 in change for the cashier.
The nominating committee met at Lion Bob Hobson's home on 4 March 2000. They are calling Lions to serve as officers. Lion Jan is not sure that she will be attending the International Convention in Hawaii. Delegates must register by 1 May 2000. The District Convention is 14 and 15 April in Ogden. Lion Jan is running for District Governor. Lions Loren and Jerry will provide endorsing speeches. Our club needs a good attendance at this convention.
Several Lions will set up and operate our pancake grills for the dinner at Memorial Lutheran Church on 7 March. A $50 rental fee will be collected for the two grills. Lion Loren passed around several items of information.
Lion Charlie Lloyd will host our next board meeting at his home on 3 April. Lion Susan moved that we adjourn. Lion Duane seconded and the meeting adjourned at 8:01 pm.

March 2000 Special Board of Directors Meeting
The Nevada Lions Club held a Special Board Meeting in Gates Hall on 8 March 2000. The meeting was called to order at 6:26 p.m. by President Loren Heckathorne who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

Lion Jan Whaley reported than Jean Bodensteiner has filled out an application for membership in the Nevada Lions Club and moved that we accept her application. Lion Membership Chair Jim Fenn seconded the motion and a short discussion followed. The motion was approved and we adjourned at 6:28 pm.
