May 4 Zone Meeting - Officers' Training

Lions Everett Carman, Loren Heckathorne, Bob Hobson, Jerry Radke, Susan Radke and Angelo Stefani participated in the Officers' Training led by Zone Chairman Lion Jan Whaley, District Governor Betty Babberl, and Lions Clubs of Iowa State Office Secretary-Treasurer, Matt Cardella.

June Lions Board Meeting:

June 7 at the Nevada State Bank and Trust, with 1st Vice President Loren Heckathorne hosting. All newly elected officers, and Board Members who will be installed on June 23rd are welcome.

Special Request from the Fort Madison Lions Club
At our April Board Meeting a request from the Fort Madison Lions Club was read. There are two young children, three and nine years old, who are blind and need Braille-N-Speak tools to help overcome the challenges in their everyday academic pursuits. The Braille-N-Speak allows the child to type an assignment and hand the teacher a print copy. The student can also make a hardcopy in braille, using a braille printer provided by Richardson school. With the spell check feature, calendar, stopwatch, and calculator (including scientific calculator functions), this device can be used throughout a student's school career and beyond. We unanimously agreed to donate $10 for each machine.

  • June 23: Installation of new officers
  • June 28-July2: Int'l Convention, San Diego, CA
  • July 4: Nevada Parade
  • July 14: Lions Family & Guest Night - Vice Presidents
  • July 16: Each Lion take 2 dozen cookies to Lion Bob Hobson's house for the Youth Exchange Camp.
  • July 22: Supper for the International Youth Exchange Camp
  • August 28: Lions Night w/Iowa Cubs

    • IMMEDIATE NEED FOR TWELFTH ANNUAL PEACE POSTER CONTEST CHAIR!!

    SEVENTH GRADER, NATALIE JOHNSON OF MANSON proudly accepted the $50.00 gift certificate she was awarded for the District 9 x 7 Peace Poster Contest at the District Convention in Madrid. The contest theme this year is "A New Beginning for Peace." We must have a chair now to contact the school this month so that the art teachers can include this contest in their curriculum for next fall. Give our Nevada children a chance to consider the importance of peace in their lives, and express those thoughts with this contest. Call or email President Susan by Friday May 14th if you'll accept this challenge.
