Lynn Harris Loren Heckathorne Dean Howell
Charles Lloyd Paul Malsom LaNair Niblock

The minutes of the 2 October 2000 board meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance was $6415.64 with $2401.62 in the Administrative Fund and $4014.02 in the Project Fund.

The secretary presented the following bills: (1) City of Nevada for Gates Hall rent ($240 for Chicken BBQ and $144 for six regular meetings) = $384.00, (2) U of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for Odie J. Lofton's glaucoma exam = $188.50, (3) Lions Clubs International ($18 for three LION Magazine subscriptions and $11.80 for a Peace Poster Kit) = $27.80, (4) Jerry Radke for 150 Lions brochures = $13.50, (5) Janice Whaley for Sight Night cocoa = $17.97, and (6) Jean Bodensteiner for Sight Night candy = $15.96. Lion Lynn moved to approve the bills, seconded by Lion Charles, and approved.

For old business Lion Angelo reported that the net profit from the Chicken BBQ was $1087.07. Lion Jerry reported that ushering at the ISU football games is going well. One game remains on 18 November. Lion Jean reported that 15 Lions worked 64 hours for Sight Night at five churches and 1 bank collecting 73 glasses and 6 hearing aids. Lion Jean recommended that we only have one site next year and, perhaps, serve hot dogs.

Lion Jean reported that the money collected for Nevada Lions shirts did not include sales tax amounting to $45.81. Also one shirt was not sold. Lion Nib moved that the club pay the sales tax and list it as advertising expense. Seconded by Lion Charles and approved. Lion Jerry moved that we keep the extra shirt to be used as a future gift and pay the $21.56. Seconded by Lion Lynn and passed.

The move to Christy Hall after our 8 November meeting was discussed. We will need to move all of our equipment and supplies. Lion Charles said that we could move our podium and banners to Christy Hall. He was not sure about the items in the Gates' storage lockers. He will check to see if there is room at Christy Hall. Lion Jerry will check to see if Gates Hall will let us move and use their lockers. The lockers and contents could be stored in Lion Jerry's shed although it is not mouse-proof nor heated. Everything has to be removed from Gates Hall before 20 November.

Plans for Spouse Night on 8 November are almost complete. Gene Moody from Maxwell will be catering the meal.

New business included a discussion on possible uses of our Project Funds. A project at the new park or new high school track were suggested. We will continue to gather ideas. The membership committee has not met but will do so in the near future. Five prospective names were obtained from the Lions Booth at the State Fair. Lion Niblock will contact them.

Lion Jerry passed around a list of the CDs we have in the Maliet and McDaniel Scholarship Funds. It was decided that the Finance Committee should meet (along with the secretary) and come back to the board with a recommendation on how to handle these investments. Lion Paul volunteered to join the Finance Committee.

Lion Jerry announced the upcoming Mid Winter Conference to be held 12-14 January 2001 in Des Moines and opportunities for leadership training with the Lions Leadership Institute at various times and locations. Lion Joel will host the December meeting. Lion Odin moved to adjourn, seconded by Lion Lynn, and we adjourned at 8:20 pm.
