September Board of Directors Meeting

Lion Line

The Nevada Lions Club held its regular Board Meeting at the Bob Hobson home on September 1, 1998. The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by President Susan Radke who acted as chairman, with the following board members in attendance:

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's balance of $6,751.02 was read and approved.

The secretary presented the following bills:
Lions Clubs of Iowa (President Plaque) $     52.80
District 9X7 Lions (One-half year dues) 259.50
Central Iowa Printing (Chicken Tickets) 11.94
Lions Clubs International (Supplies) 17.51
City of Nevada (Gates Rent Chicken Bar B Q) 320.00
Susan Radke (Chicken Table Dec.) 13.36
Loren Heckathorne (Chicken Groceries) 382.79

Lion Carmen moved to pay the bills as presented, seconded by Jerry Radke, motion carried.

Chicken Bar B Q chair Heckathorne reported: served 657 dinners and 42 half chickens with 115 half chickens left. Sold 122 tickets with 91 returned for dinners. Grossed $3,895.00. He thanked everyone especially the cooks. Next year we should consider shorter time serving.

President Susan Radke reported on the following:

  1. Read a letter from James Johnson resigning from 3rd Vice President. Lion Jerry Radke moved to accept with regret, seconded by Klopping, motion carried.
  2. Read a thank you from Diane Cooprider for dinners and help for daughter Ashley.
  3. Read a letter from International Youth Exchange Chair Jan Whaley thanking Dean Howell and Nevada Lions for cookies for Youth Camp. Lion Carman moved to give cookies next year for International Youth Camp, seconded by Howell, motion carried.
  4. Brought up Lions Peace Poster Contest for 11 to 13 year olds. Lion Carman moved to buy a kit for $19.95, seconded by Jerry Radke. Motion carried.

Public Relations Chair Jerry Radke reported Nevada Lions trailer needs painting before fish sale. Nevada Lions need a new fund raiser. Nevada Lions road signs need to be put up again.

Lion Howell moved to cancel Nov. 25 Lions meeting, seconded by Halverson, motion carried.

The October 5 Board meeting will be in the Robert Klopping home and November 2 Board meeting in the Dean Howell home.

May 21 to 12: 1999 Lions State Convention in Davenport, Iowa. June 28 to July 2, 1999: Lions International Convention in San Diego, California.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
